Tom Rickert Sales Associate Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage 310 King Street Alexandria, Virginia 22314
I was brought up in Alexandria and raised in a Real Estate family. As a child, I was not allowed to answer the phone without getting a name and a number. So, believe me, I know the drill. After graduating from prep school in Vermont I received my degree in Design and Fine Art locally. I have always had a love for houses and I split my time in the 80's between working at Victoria Antiques in Old Town and Tom's Paint Works. Tom's Paint Works was my own contracting Co and we got the lion's share of our work thru my mothers real estate office. The work of prepping houses for the market was much more lucrative than antiques and the more I did, the better I got. Tom's Paint Works was in high demand, but with the advent of cheaper and cheaper foreign labor in the late 80's I decided to transition from prepping the houses to selling the houses. I already knew tons of agents and had heard all the stories. That was 14 years ago and I have successfully worked as a full time Realtor since that day I started.

Business Philosophy
I am a results oriented Realtor. Critical to the process of succesful home transactions is the meeting of customer expectations. I address expectation fulfilment upfront at potential buyer client interviews and listing presentations. In fact, as an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), I require my clients to sign a Buyer/Broker Agreement as a prerequisite to commencing the home acquisition process. Understandibly, not all customers and Realtors are comfortable working with each others varying business styles. I do not believe in forcing the issue and or business relationship. For this reason, I engage each and every potential client in a Buyer interview where we can determine our compatability factor. Besides providing me with client specific information, I find these meetings afford both sides a "test drive" of the potential business relationship. I am a proponent of the concept of streamlining. I do not waste peoples valuable time. I see the future of Real Estate moving toward the Web and am actively using this as a focal point for my marketing and technology efforts.
